Hi Ruth, I have still been thinking about this article – so this morning I got the Greek out for John 17:17. It says that the word is logos. So I think that if we re-read the verse is says that Jesus makes us Holy, not per se the reading of the scriptures. Now I still think that reading the word has an efficacious nature, but it’s function of doing so is for another reason. In Rom 10:17 it says that faith cometh by hearing…. Anyway – just some more thoughts on it all.

I’ve just come back to re-read your post.

I totally agree – Knowing the Truth it will set us free. It will cause us to walk in Holiness. It will cause us to be set apart.

What an awesome verse john 17:17 is. A wonderful confirmation and encouragement to keep reading the word of God to the family. Jesus is also known as the Word of God – so either way it’s ALL good news – even with my limited understanding.

I just want you to know how much you message has spoken to me. I am a women who worships alone, since my husband has no desire to serve God at this time. I struggle so much with how to raise my children even in a home where the balance is broken. I know that God has answered my prayer in being able to read this giving me instruction in the very things I desire. God is so good to me and I would not change my decision to serve him for anything. I would ask that you pray for me as I depend on God for his grace to get through each day.

The TV is one of the biggest hurdles. If you can conquer that one, you will find all else to be much easier to deal with.

I agree about the backs of mags, Ruth. I knew it was getting bad when my Grandmother ordered us Reader’s Digest, and now it comes in the mail with the backs covered because of the risque ads or sketches!

They all just go into the trash anyway…
Such is the way of the world…
