This was a lot of fun! Thank you for all the responses for the free ebook. Wasn’t that a great sale, too? Wow… 17 books for $17!

This morning, I made sure all comments were approved, then I stopped comments from coming in. Then I took all the names, typed them out, printed them, cut them so they would all be the same size, folded each in half and placed them in a bowl. After stirring them up well, one of my daughters reached up high and pulled out the winner:

Lucy!

Congratulations, Lucy! Please contact me and let me know which of the ebooks you wanted. If you had purchased it, the money will be reimbursed from that book.

Since cabbage is a deal right now, and because we like sauerkraut and I have heard it is quite simple to make, I have decided to try my hand at it. (See update below) I looked on YouTube to find some how to’s. I thought the first one below was very helpful, but found the bottom one to be more entertaining. Let me know which you like best. I will let you know how the sauerkraut turns out!

Update: I did try making the kraut. After sitting on our counter for some time, it began to show signs of molding. I would like to try it again, but need a better system that can keep out the air.

I have not been good about getting the latest reading to you. This week, our family is reading Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther. I am especially looking forward to Esther.

Seeds!

We are going to do a garden this year! I am so excited! I love going out to the garden in the quiet of the morning to weed and pray. Okay, I do love the vegetables, too!

Someone asked me how much we were going to plant this year. I said, “as much as Dennis will let me!”

This past week, I went to a few stores and found all the seeds I wanted to plant, less corn. I buy my corn at a farm seed store because I can purchase a large amount in bulk.

Today, Elizabeth and I sat down, sorted the packages, and wrote down on the calendar what needs to be started in pete pots when.  The list is as follows:

March 23rd: Spearmint

April 6th: All the peppers (sweet and hot),  roma tomatoes

April 20th: Jelly bean tomatoes, cabbage, honeydew

April 27th Early Girl tomatoes

Our goal plant dates will be the first week of June. If they don’t all get in then, that’s okay. I will share later what else we will be adding. Elizabeth wanted to do some herbs and some of the other girls wanted to do flowers. What fun!
